PagePlay is a website, email and hosting service offered by Modlia which was set up by Harry Bailey and Chris Charlton in 2008.

The four-strong team are proud to be based in Manchester's creative Northern quarter. Through strategic partnerships with graphic designers and a great hosting provider, everyone is able to play to their strengths and offer affordable quality to customers.

After extensive collaboration on web projects Harry and Chris realised the opportunity for a service like PagePlay. Customers wanted to work with designers to come up with a website design that was right for them, and they wanted to be able to make changes to all of the content on the site. Their available budget would not usually allow for both of these to be achieved well.

So they worked together to design and develop both the PagePlay tool and the subscription service which accompanies it.

One consideration was held above all others when developing the editing tools for PagePlay. It must be easy to use. Chris and Harry wanted to offer PagePlay as a "zero training" product. To help with this, during the development, their own mothers were engaged as principle testers. Sure they could both use a computer - but they would be the first to admit that they were, by no means, advanced users. They had just the right level of skills for the target users we had in mind for PagePlay. And so, the famous PagePlay Mum Test was born. No new features were allowed in to PagePlay until they had been Mum-tested.

The result is a system for editing website content which is consistently cited by customers as being "so easy to use". The PagePlay help line os constantly available for any customers who need support with using the system. The team rarely receive any calls from customers who need help using PagePlay to manage their content.

You pay for PagePlay in two parts - Setup + Subscription. Your setup option covers the kind of design process which is required for the client. If a more bespoke and involved approach to design is required, then this is available as a premium option.

After setup is complete PagePlay itself costs from just £19 per month. The ongoing subscription model is one which allows us to deliver a constantly improving service to customers as well as allowing them to spread the cost of investing in a content management system for their website.
